OnTalent is incredible proud to continue our partnership with the API Queensland group of companies as they seek to appoint a Chief Financial Officer who wants to shape a story — not just report on it.
API QLD is a century-old, member-owned organisation with a clear social purpose and a rapidly evolving commercial footprint. Through its canopy Early Education and canopy Community entities, the group is entering a period of disciplined, opportunity-led growth — supported by a strong asset base, an engaged Board, and a clear appetite to scale both impact and performance.
This CFO appointment is pivotal.
We’re seeking an experienced finance leader with strong commercial instincts, sound judgement, and a steady hand. Someone who values discipline, sustainability and long-term outcomes, while still being comfortable backing growth when the fundamentals are right.
This is not a traditional stewardship role. It’s a strategic executive position with genuine influence. Working closely with the CEO and Board, the CFO will shape financial strategy, lead acquisition and growth modelling, and ensure the organisation has the capital structures, controls and insights required to move forward with confidence.
You’ll be comfortable operating in lean and intelligent models — optimising systems, leveraging technology and analytics, and extracting clear insight from complex data. You’ll understand capital, risk and investment, and ideally bring experience from regulated, human-centred or government-adjacent sectors where financial decisions carry both commercial and social consequences.
Mindset matters here.
API QLD is looking for a CFO who wants to commit to the journey — someone mid-career, values-aligned, and motivated by building something meaningful over the next five years. A leader who can tell a compelling financial story on a page, partner closely with a small executive team, and bring calm, credible decision-making to an organisation in motion.
At OnTalent, we specialise in executive appointments where purpose and performance must coexist. This is one of those roles.
If you are an experienced finance leader who sees growth as something to be earned, not assumed — and you’re ready to apply that thinking in a role with genuine strategic impact — we’d welcome a confidential conversation.
